A critical look at the current crop of Black novelists, poets and writers. An examination of current trends in Black Literature (i.e. Commercial Fiction) and the historical significance of these trends. Dialogue on topics such as "What novelists will be remembered 100 years from now," and "Is there not enough attention paid to craft by emerging writers."

Personal Observations by member of the Black Arts Movement, on how the movement began, and some of the theory, ideology and practice that came out of the movement. Special attention will be paid to the continuation of this ideology in the current "Hip Hop Generation." Question and Answer with the audience will conclude the discussion.

An examination of current modes of Black Poetry (Slamming, Po’jazz, etc.) Dialogue on topics such as "What new areas of poetic expression will be nurtured in the new millenium," and "Will spoken word cd’s and other forms of multi-media, replace books of verse."
